Pepton Peptisers
Advanced Chemical Peptisers for Rubber & Polymer Processing
Pepton® is Thomas Swan’s range of high-performance, DBD-based chemical peptisers designed to accelerate rubber mastication, reduce compound viscosity, and make mixing faster, cleaner, and more energy-efficient. By improving processability, Pepton® helps manufacturers save time and cost while delivering more consistent, higher-quality end products.
Pepton® uses dibenzamido diphenyl disulphide (DBD) chemistry, widely recognised as the environmentally preferred option in the rubber industry. Thomas Swan is the only European producer of the active ingredient for DBD-based peptisers, and our DBD is the only fully REACH-registered material of its kind. At the heart of the range is Pepton® 22, a 100% active base delivering best-in-class peptising performance.
Formulated Pepton® grades combine different active levels with proprietary additives to boost mastication efficiency, enabling:
- Faster mix times – target viscosity reached sooner
- Energy savings – reduced mixing time and lower power consumption throughout processing
- Safe production – formulated without toxic components or VOCs
- Reliable supply – including worldwide distribution and secure logistics to ensure fast lead times and consistent availability
Pepton® is manufactured using >85% renewable energy from our on-site anaerobic digestion plant, supporting your sustainability targets while ensuring secure global supply and fast lead times.

What is a peptiser?
A peptiser is a chemical additive used during rubber mastication to break down long polymer chains, reducing viscosity and improving processability.
Why does rubber need a peptiser?
Raw rubber is tough and elastic, making it hard to mix. Peptisers accelerate softening, saving time and energy while ensuring uniform mixing.
What are the benefits of using Pepton® Peptisers?
✅ Energy Savings
Shorter mixing cycles and lower power consumption help cut energy costs and improve overall efficiency.
✅ Superior Dispersion
Pre-dispersed formulations ensure rapid incorporation, avoiding localized hot spots and delivering uniform distribution of fillers and oils.
✅ Consistent Quality
Pepton® delivers reliable, batch-to-batch uniformity thanks to controlled molecular weight reduction and advanced dispersion technology.
✅ Sustainable & Safe
Manufactured using >85% renewable energy, fully REACH-compliant, and free from harmful chemicals like PCTP—supporting environmental and safety standards.
✅ Reliable Global Supply
Worldwide distribution and secure logistics guarantee fast lead times and supply continuity.
