Why join Thomas Swan?
Over four generations Thomas Swan has established a proud tradition of innovation. The company was founded in 1926 by ‘Tommy’ Swan and to this day we maintain the flexibility of an independent, family-run business despite our growing presence in the UK and international chemicals markets.
Employees are encouraged to put forward their ideas of how we can improve in all aspects of the business. We are keen to constantly improve, therefore we have committed to implement 20% of all employee suggestions each year.
We have a great team at Thomas Swan with a range of exciting career opportunities. However, no work place is perfect and we regularly ask our employees how they feel about a topic so we know what we can do to improve. In a score of 1 (low) and 10 (high), here is a snapshot of how employees rated working for us:
Talent Development
All employees are given the opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge with regular training and development. We run a range of training programmes such as Lean Sigma, Prince II Project Management and various Health and Safety courses. Continuous professional development is encouraged through supporting specific external training or further education. Many of our employees have achieved professional qualifications with our support.
We believe in growing talent through Apprenticeships and have been successful in implementing an Apprenticeship programme. We are planning to recruit more Apprentices into different areas of the business in the future.
Career Opportunities
Achieving our goal of manufacturing high quality products whilst continuing to have an innovation driven culture means we employ a workforce who demonstrate a wide and diverse range of skills.
