Casamid® and Casathix™ Polyamide Resin Range Achieves USDA Certified Biobased Product Status
Thomas Swan confirms that selected grades within its Casamid® polyamide resin binders and Casathix™ polyamide rheology modifiers have achieved USDA Certified Biobased Product status, with independently verified biobased content ranging from 78% to 98%.
Certification under the USDA BioPreferred® Program provides independent validation of renewable biological content and supports customers seeking to increase biobased content in inks, coatings, and alkyd systems without compromising performance, consistency, or processing behaviour.
Casamid® polyamide resins are widely used as binders, co‑binders, and modifiers in flexographic and rotogravure printing inks, varnishes, and coatings, where adhesion, flexibility, durability, and press stability are critical.
Casathix™ polyamide resins are specialist non‑reactive additives designed to impart thixotropy, structure, and non‑drip performance in alkyd resin coatings.
“The USDA certification, based on independent testing, confirms that Casamid® and Casathix™ polyamide resin binders contain a very high level of biobased content. This certification reinforces Thomas Swan’s long‑standing commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing, and supports our ability to offer more sustainable solutions without compromising on quality or supply reliability.”

The USDA Certified Biobased Product label confirms that biobased content has been independently tested in accordance with US Code of Federal Regulations Title 7, Section 3202, providing additional assurance to formulators, specifiers, and procurement teams.
