Casachem PEGs

Polyethylene glycols (PEGs) that improve compatibility, flow, lubrication and surface finish across rubber, plastics and industrial formulations.

Casachem™ PEGs are a high-purity, consistently manufactured range of polyethylene glycols engineered to deliver reliable solubilising, lubricating and plasticising performance across a wide range of industrial and formulation markets.

Available in a broad molecular-weight range, Casachem™ PEGs offer excellent clarity, low colour and tight molecular-weight distribution, allowing them to integrate cleanly into systems where low odour, low impurities and predictable processing are essential.

The Casachem™ PEG portfolio supports formulators in rubber and tyre compounds, plastics, engineering materials, coatings, adhesives and selected personal and industrial care applications—helping to adjust viscosity, improve compatibility, aid dispersion and enhance processing. Their inherent thermal stability and lubricity make them especially valuable where smoother processing and improved surface or mechanical properties are required.

  • High-purity, low-colour grades
  • Broad molecular-weight range
  • Consistent, narrow polydispersity
  • Efficient solubilisers and plasticisers
  • Thermally stable, low volatility
  • Multi-application utility across polymers and formulations
  • Reliable supply with technical support

What are Casachem PEGs and why are they used in rubber processing?
Casachem PEGs are high-purity polyethylene glycols that act as processing aids, lubricants, and plasticizers in rubber compounding. They reduce mixing torque, improve flow, and enhance dispersion of fillers and curatives, resulting in smoother processing and better mechanical properties. Their amphiphilic nature ensures compatibility with both polar and non-polar polymers, making them ideal for NR, SBR, EPDM, and other elastomers

What are the main differences between PEG grades?
• PEG 600: Low molecular weight liquid; ideal for adhesives, coatings, and as a humectant or antistatic agent.
• PEG 3350: Medium molecular weight solid; improves flow and dispersion in rubber and thermoplastics.
• PEG 4000: High molecular weight solid; excellent for rubber compounding and pigment dispersions.
• PEG 6000: Very high molecular weight solid; enhances cure rate and filler dispersion in silica-rich compounds

Why choose Thomas Swan’s Casachem PEGs?
Casachem PEGs are manufactured to tight molecular-weight distribution, ensuring consistent performance and predictable processing. They offer low colour, low odour, and high purity, making them ideal for sensitive applications where quality and reliability matter. Supported by Thomas Swan’s global supply network, customers benefit from short lead times and dependable availability.

Are Casachem PEGs versatile across different industries?
Yes, they are used in:
• Rubber and tyre compounds for lubrication and cure activation
• Plastics and engineering materials as flow improvers and plasticizers
