Casamod Polymer Modifiers

Casamod polymer modifiers are speciality additives for the synthetic rubber industry, enabling the production of ultra-high-performance polymers with enhanced functional properties. By tuning polymer microstructure during solution polymerisation, they support improved dynamic performance, processing behaviour, and sustainability benefits in a wide range of rubber applications, including high-performance and “green” tyre tread compounds.

Casamod polar modifiers are used in the manufacture of solution styrene-butadiene rubber (s-SBR) to adjust the way styrene and butadiene are incorporated into the polymer chain. They improve the random distribution of styrene and increase butadiene 1,2-vinyl content in s-SBR, delivering a more controlled, predictable microstructure that can be tailored to specific performance targets.

Microstructure Control for s-SBR

Casamod additives precisely influence styrene-butadiene microstructure, helping producers design s-SBR grades with targeted glass transition temperature (Tg), hysteresis, and mechanical properties for demanding rubber applications.

Higher Vinyl Content, Tunable Dynamics

By increasing butadiene 1,2-vinyl content, Casamod modifiers enhance dynamic properties, enabling improved grip, better wet and dry performance, and optimised rolling resistance where needed – particularly valuable in high-performance and low-rolling-resistance tread compounds.

Narrow Polydispersity, Smoother Processing

Casamod products support narrow molecular-weight distribution, improving polymer uniformity and process stability. This leads to more consistent viscosity, cleaner mixing, and repeatable processing from lab scale to full production in s-SBR and related synthetic rubber systems.

Enabling Next-Generation Rubber Performance

With controlled microstructure, high vinyl content, and narrow polydispersity, Casamod polymer modifiers help unlock next-generation synthetic rubber performance – from advanced tyre treads to industrial rubber goods, seals, belts, and other engineering elastomers where durability, efficiency, and reliability are critical.

  • Speciality polymer modifiers for high-performance synthetic rubber
  • Precise microstructure control in s-SBR (styrene/butadiene distribution and Tg)
  • Increased butadiene 1,2-vinyl content for improved grip and rolling resistance
  • Tunable dynamic properties for wet/dry performance and low hysteresis
  • Narrow polydispersity for uniform polymers and stable viscosity
  • Smoother processing with cleaner mixing and repeatable scale-up
  • Enabler for advanced and “green” tyre tread compounds
  • Suitable for next-generation industrial rubber goods, seals, belts and engineering elastomers
